Timing jitter

Timing jitter characterization of modelocked lasers

Keller learned about timing jitter characterization and stabilization during her Ph.D. work with Prof. Bloom at Stanford (1985-1989). The goal was to find the best lasers to generate femtosecond pulses and low timing jitter for electro-optic sampling. Timing jitter measurements were done by Keller on the following femtosecond lasers:

1990: Color-center lasers, DownloadRef. [11] (PDF, 438 KB)

Current SESAM modelocked diode-pumped solid-state lasers can offer quantum noise limited performance (DownloadRef. [226] (PDF, 181 KB) and DownloadRef. [244] (PDF, 386 KB))

Stabilized SESAM modelocked diode-pumped solid-state lasers have been commercially available since the 1990s
